My Hero Mom™ is a national campaign presented by Project Single Moms™ which provides a forum for spotlighting successful adult children raised by single moms. Through sharing their success stories, children pay tribute to their single moms for their contributions in raising them to become successful, productive adults while parenting on their own. The My Hero Mom campaign’s purpose is:
• To recognize and celebrate the hard work, dedication and commitment of single moms who have raised healthy, productive and successful children parenting on their own;
• To spotlight successful children of single moms;
• To provide a forum for success stories told by the children who are evidence of the hard work, love and commitment and who are now productive, successful adults as a result of being raised by a single mom;
• To redefine and eliminate the negative myths and stereotypes about single moms in America;
• To raise awareness of the needs, resources and support programs which will offer single moms a hand up and not a hand out;
• To create opportunities to strengthen and enhance the quality of life for single mothers and their families; and
• To raise funds for “A Hand Up Fund”, which provides temporary financial assistance to single moms for emergency and empowerment purposes.
