My Daughter’s Keeper Worldwide through its Project Single Moms movement will present “Enhancing Lives through Education: A National Empowerment Tour for Single Moms” during 2009-2010. The purpose of the tour is to mobilize masses of single moms in an effort to organize them geographically to create Project Single Moms affiliates on a grassroots level to address the specific needs and issues facing single moms.
The “National Empowerment Tour” will provide an opportunity for single moms to:
– Gain access to education in the focal areas previously described to enable them to excel and enhance their lives;
– Connect with other single moms in their communities to build a support network;
– Become connected to resources and support in their communities as well as nationally;
– Enrich their lives and their children through self-empowerment, personal and professional development opportunities; and
– Advocate for state and federal funding to create educational and empowerment programs geared toward providing “A Hand Up” not a hand out to single moms.
